The Everest Base Camp Trek is a famous & challenging trek in the Khumbu region, starting and ending at Lukla. The trek leads through high valleys, traditional Villages and high spectacular mountains which include the World's Highest Heritage "Sagarmatha National Park".  Forming part of this mountain range is Namche Bazzar, which is recognized as Khumbu's Sherpa Capital.  This trek can be started from Shivalaya, Jiri or from Kathmandu to Lukla.  Should you fly in then you will start from Lukla, which is a more popular route than driving to Jiri and starting from there. If you have the time, one way to beat the crowds is to walk in from Shivalaya or Jiri and fly out from Lukla to Kathmandu.  While on the trek acclimatization days are included at Namche and Pheriche to avoid altitude sickness.  The trek reaches a high point of Kalapathar(5545m), a small peak offering superb views of Mount Everest and the other Himalayas.

You also have the option of planning the trek according to the time you have available.  Along the way, you will visit Namche Bazaar, Thame, Khumjung and Tengboche Monastery and also stop to take in the panoramic views of Ama Dabla, Pumori, Lhotse, Nuptse.
