ANIMAL WELFARE - THIS IS A SPECIAL REQUEST FROM DIVE LOCKER

PLEASE be mindful of participating in or supporting activities in which Camels, Horses, Donkies and any other type of animal is used for purposes of entertainment while on holiday.  I refer especially to the more rural destinations where these animals are used by local people to generate income from TOURISM!

My experience relates to the animals in Eqypt used for 'fun rides' around the Pyramids and various forms of adventure centres, such as those offering Bedouin experiences on Camel or Horse, commonly found around the coastal resort areas.

PLEASE take a moment to look at the horrific state that these animals are in before you consider climbing on for a ride, this is what you will commonly see:

* Severly underweight animals

* Slightly structured animals pulling large and heavy carts or being forced to stand with these vehicles attached to them all day

* Horses & Donkies with severe hoof / leg injuries, sometimes not visible to the eye but you can see the absolute paid and
   discomfort in their movement

* Camels with halters / bridles embedded in their flesh

* Harsh treatment from the owners / riders toward these animals

* Harsh environments in which these animals are FORCED to work

* If you encounter such activities PLEASE email me - ideally with photos as we need this information in order to get more
   support from local and foreign animal welfare institutions in order to alleviate the situation that these animals are exposed to.

By no means does it take a trained eye to tell when an animal is in pain and discomfort.  These animals are exposed to these conditions because of the demand by tourists when visiting such areas.
